WHO-5 Well-being Index

The WHO-5 is a simple tool developed by the World Health Organization to measure overall emotional well-being. Instead of focusing on symptoms, it asks how often you’ve felt calm, energetic, or interested in life over the past two weeks.

Why Take the WHO-5?

Get a quick snapshot of your emotional well-being
Track your progress over time
Start discussions about areas needing attention

How to Approach the Questions

Respond honestly about how you’ve felt in the last two weeks.
Options range from At no time to All of the time.
There are no right or wrong answers—just what feels true for you.

Higher scores reflect better well-being, while lower scores suggest areas where additional support might help.

Scoring:

The raw score is calculated by totaling the figures of the five answers. The raw score ranges from 0 to 25,
0 representing worst possible and 25 representing best possible quality of life.

To obtain a percentage score ranging from 0 to 100, the raw score is multiplied by 4. A percentage score
of 0 represents worst possible, whereas a score of 100 represents best possible quality of life.
